Run And Hide, Here They Come

AUGUST 13, 2020

DAILY PROVERBS:

Proverbs 20:9-12 Who can say, I have made my heart clean, I am pure from my sin? Divers weights, and divers measures, both of them are alike abomination to the LORD. Even a child is known by his doings, whether his work be pure, and whether it be right. The hearing ear, and the seeing eye, the LORD hath made even both of them.

OUTLOOK ON THE IN BOOK:

Now let’s just be honest. There are people who, when you see them coming, you try to avoid them. It may be for a number of reasons such as you may owe them money, or they always have bad breath, or something.

I know of one such group of people that I have found which I often try to avoid. They are those who believe that they are the “I’s” of the world. Nope, I did not miss spell that. They are people who, every time you run into them, they are so full of themselves. It is always, “I did this, I did that, I bought this, or I’m the best at that.” It’s always I, I, I. Occasionally they will toss in God’s name just to make it sound a bit more spiritual

In life, people could care less what you say about yourself if what you say does not match what you do. Your words and your life need to agree, or your words become meaningless. If you are truly doing things for the Lord, then “I” moves out of the picture, everything will shift to being about Him.

Our verses today say even a child is known by his doing. People are known for something. For either what they do or what they say they do. God made both the “hearing ear and the seeing eye.” Both are of equal importance, and both should bring glory to him. However, I do not read anywhere that God made any of us to be the “BOASTING I.”

THE WORD WALKING IN ME:

All that said, it is not wrong from time to time to share with others the blessing in our lives. The accomplishments of our children, our family, and our friends are often some of the things we should desire to share with others. It is wise though, to leave the bragging about ourselves to others. God, who created us, gave us two ears and one mouth. What we all need to remember to do is to listen twice as much as we share.
