  Look At Me And See

AUGUST 31, 2022
Daily Reading – Psa. 114-118 / 1 Co. 4

WHAT GOD HAS SAID:

1 Corinthians 4:16-17 Wherefore I beseech you, be ye followers of me. For this cause have I sent unto you Timotheus, who is my beloved son, and faithful in the Lord, who shall bring you into remembrance of my ways which be in Christ, as I teach every where in every church.

WHAT I HAVE SEEN:

People want to believe they live in a bubble. Not a real bubble, but a space where nothing they say or do has any effect on those around. The truth is, we do not live alone. Everything we say, everywhere we go, and anything we do, others are watching. Not only are they watching, but they are also judging our character. Not by who we say we are, but whom we prove to be.
Paul said in 1 Cor. 4:3-4 that he really did not care if people judged him as he knew God was his final judge. Yet when he gets to verses 16-17, he invites people to watch and follow after him. Why would he do so? He said, if you watch me, I will lead you in the ways of Christ.

WHAT WILL YOU DO:

Could you invite people to follow you today? If so,
where would you lead them?

  I Did Not Do It!

AUGUST 30, 2022
Daily Reading – Psa. 109-113 / 1 Co. 3

WHAT GOD HAS SAID:

1 Corinthians 3:6-7 I have planted, Apollos watered; but God gave the increase. So then neither is he that planteth any thing, neither he that watereth; but God that giveth the increase.

WHAT I HAVE SEEN:

I will never forget Jim. Jim was a man I had the privilege of leading to the Lord. He was older and had been around churches longer than I had. However, for whatever reason, God used something I said to shine a light into Jim’s heart and illuminate the Gospel. Often in services where we asked for testimonies, Jim would pop up and say something like “I am so glad I am saved and thank Pastor for saving me.” I would continually remind him I did not do it, God saved Him. He would say, “I know that, but you know what I mean.”
What a joy to be used by God to help someone’s life be change forever. However, we need never lose sight of who is truly doing the saving. Only God can save a soul.

  It Made No Sense Before

AUGUST 29, 2022
Daily Reading – Psa. 106-108 / 1 Co. 2

WHAT GOD HAS SAID:

1 Corinthians 2:14 But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.

WHAT I HAVE SEEN:

Before I accepted Christ as Saviour, when I would read God’s Word it often made no sense. Even though I was raised in church, knew all the stories, it never would tie together and become real to me. After I was saved, it was like reading a new book for the first time. The stories were the same, but now they spoke to me personally and had become clearer than before. Still today, when reading God’s Word, I learn new truths.
One reason is found in today’s verse. The unsaved, or natural man cannot understand spiritual things. It is not until the Holy Spirit takes up residence in our heart that He then illuminates what was written.

WHAT WILL YOU DO:

Isn’t reading a living book that is personal much more enjoyable than just reading plain old literature?

AUGUST 27 & 28, 2022 – Grace FIRST!

  Grace FIRST!

AUGUST 27 & 28, 2022
Daily Reading – Psa. 103-105 / 1 Co. 1

WHAT GOD HAS SAID:

1 Corinthians 1:3 Grace be unto you, and peace, from God our Father, and from the Lord Jesus Christ.

WHAT I HAVE SEEN:

In Paul’s letters to the churches, we find a common thread in his greetings to them. He opens with grace first and follows with peace. For example, we read in, 1 Corinthians 1:3 “Grace be unto you, and peace, from God our Father, and from the Lord Jesus Christ.” This is not a just a habit in grammar for Paul. It is his belief in the truth that grace precedes peace.
Paul also wrote Ephesians 2:8 “For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:” You see, without God’s grace there would be no salvation. Without salvation, there can be no lasting peace. Grace must always come first before any real peace.

WHAT WILL YOU DO:

Isn’t God’s grace amazing?

WHAT TO DO ON SUNDAY:

On Sundays, we encourage you to attend your local church and listen intently to what God has prepared in the heart of your Pastor. Write down all the scriptures he uses in that message, then, when you get home re-read those passages for today’s reading. God has given to your Pastor exactly what He desires for you on that day.

AUGUST 26, 2022 – Wise And Simple

  Wise And Simple

AUGUST 26, 2022
Daily Reading – Psa. 97-102 / Rom. 16

WHAT GOD HAS SAID:

Romans 16:19 For your obedience is come abroad unto all men. I am glad therefore on your behalf: but yet I would have you wise unto that which is good, and simple concerning evil.

WHAT I HAVE SEEN:

Paul says to the church, “I would have you wise unto that which is good, and simple concerning evil.” This is still good advice today. Many times, I have heard comments like, “Well how will I know if it is bad if I don’t try it?” Meaning, “I want to play in sin, so I know if it’s wrong.” Really? Will you shoot yourself in the foot to know if it hurts? Shall I slap your face to see if it stings? That is a ridiculous thing to even think.
Paul’s advice was good back then and is still good today. Study to be wise about things you know to be good. Be simple, (or innocent, uneducated) on the evils of this world. Sin is so bad that Jesus had to die to wash us clean from it.

WHAT WILL YOU DO:

Do we really need to experience sin’s torments to know that it is sin?
