  It’s A Disguise

SEPTEMBER 24 & 25, 2022
Daily Reading – Pro. 30-31 / 2 Co. 11

WHAT GOD HAS SAID:

2 Corinthians 11:13-14 For such are false apostles, deceitful workers, transforming themselves into the apostles of Christ. And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light.

WHAT I HAVE SEEN:

The autumn season has crept into our lives. The air is a bit crisper, the daylight is dwindling, and the leaves on the trees turn color to beautify the time of year. It is time to prepare for the winter ahead. However, before Winter arrives, on Oct. 31 many will get dressed up in disguises and go trick-or-treating for Halloween.
When I read Paul’s warning about false apostles, and deceitful workers transforming themselves, I am reminded of these little children in disguises. The word transforming in 2 Cor. 11:13-15 means they disguised themselves. Paul warned the church then, as God warns us today, do not be fooled by fancy disguises. Measure everything by God’s Word.

WHAT WILL YOU DO:

Will you be fooled by the world’s tricks with no lasting treat?

WHAT TO DO ON SUNDAY:

On Sundays, we encourage you to attend your local church and listen intently to what God has prepared in the heart of your Pastor. Write down all the scriptures he uses in that message, then, when you get home re-read those passages for today’s reading. God has given to your Pastor exactly what He desires for you on that day.

I Don’t Have To Give, I Get To

SEPTEMBER 23, 2022
Daily Reading – Pro. 28-29 / 2 Co. 9-10

WHAT GOD HAS SAID:

2 Corinthians 9:7 Every man according as he purposeth in his heart, so let him give; not grudgingly, or of necessity: for God loveth a cheerful giver.

WHAT I HAVE SEEN:

God has been so kind to me in that He has given me a loving wife. She shows me her love in so many ways. She is concerned when I am hurt or worried. She helps in areas where I need help. She encourages me when I am down and brings me back to earth when my head gets off in the clouds. To buy or give her something within my means is not a chore, it brings me nothing but great joy. Everything I am or have is greatly due to who she is and has been with me on this journey.
That is also how I feel about God. All that my wife is to me, God is also, and greater. Everything I am and have is totally due to who He has been to me on this journey. To give something to Him of time, talent, or treasure is not a chore; it brings me nothing but great joy.

WHAT WILL YOU DO:

Why would I not cheerfully give to Him?

  Are You ALL IN!

SEPTEMBER 22, 2022
Daily Reading – Pro. 26-27 / 2 Co. 8

WHAT GOD HAS SAID:

2 Corinthians 8:5 And this they did, not as we hoped, but first gave their own selves to the Lord, and unto us by the will of God.

WHAT I HAVE SEEN:

Paul here is talking about the church and giving. He makes a comment in 2 Cor. 8:5 that is pivotal to joyous giving. He says, “They did, not as we hoped,” which is to say, they did more than we hoped for.
So, what was the reason for their joyful abundant giving? Paul tells us; “but first gave their own selves to the Lord, and unto us by the will of God.” Their dedication to the Lord was already there. Now they are dedicating themselves to the work of the Lord. They understood, that not only did they have the Lord, but the Lord also had all of them. They were all in. Everything they had. Their time, talents, and treasures also belong to Him, and were glad to have something to give back.

WHAT WILL YOU DO:

Are you able to gladly give to Him?

SEPTEMBER 21, 2022 – Don’t Play In The Street

Daily Reading – Pro. 24-25 / 2 Co. 7

WHAT GOD HAS SAID:

2 Corinthians 7:10 For godly sorrow worketh repentance to salvation not to be repented of: but the sorrow of the world worketh death.

WHAT I HAVE SEEN:

Imagine with me for a moment that you are a child. You live in a big city on a busy street, and you have no yard to play in. Which would be worse? If I as your parent said, “do not play in the street, there is a lot of traffic, and you may be hit by a car and killed.” Or, If I said, “Do not worry about the cars, play wherever you want. I think they will stop.” As a child, play wherever sounds good. However, is that best advice? Not really.
As Christians, we hate telling the world of their sin. Satan has made sin look so good to them. Yet, they need to know that the wages of sin is eternal death. That forsaking sin will not bring them sorrow at all, it will instead bring them joy and life.

WHAT WILL YOU DO:

As a good friend, shouldn’t we warn people of the danger of sin?

SEPTEMBER 20, 2022 – You Are The Temple

  You Are The Temple

SEPTEMBER 20, 2022
Daily Reading – Pro. 22-23 / 2 Co. 6

WHAT GOD HAS SAID:

2 Corinthians 6:16 And what agreement hath the temple of God with idols? for ye are the temple of the living God; as God hath said, I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people.

WHAT I HAVE SEEN:

When Paul wrote this to the church in Corinth it was not hard for them to visualize what he was saying. There was a separate temple which contained an idol for almost every false god that the Romans had. People would go into the temple and bow down before it, sacrifice to it, and bring gifts to this idol. Paul said, your God does not live in a building, He lives in you.
Christians have the same God today. He lives in the heart of each of us who has accepted Jesus as Saviour. Like the verse says, God dwells in us, walks with us, sees what we see, and hears what we hear. You are the temple that God resides in.

WHAT WILL YOU DO:

So, here’s a question for you, where are you taking God today? What will you make Him hear and see with you?
