The Roaring Lion
MARCH 5 & 6, 2022
Daily Reading – Numbers 9-11 / Mark 8:22-38
Daily Reading – No Reading on Sunday
WHAT GOD HAS SAID:
Mark 8:33 But when he had turned about and looked on his disciples, he rebuked Peter, saying, Get thee behind me, Satan: for thou savourest not the things that be of God, but the things that be of men.
WHAT I HAVE SEEN:
Some lessons in life are never forgotten. For Peter, this was one of them. When Jesus asked who He was, Peter correctly identified Jesus as the Christ. His heart was indeed close to Jesus. Yet Peter’s comment to Jesus’ teachings of His death, burial, and resurrection were not one of a student and teacher. Even Peter was not beyond Satan’s influence. Jesus turns to look at Peter but tells Satan to get behind Him.
In 1 Peter 5:8, we are warned of this very thing. Peter says, “…your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:”
Satan can never regain the saved soul, however if we are not careful, he may misguide the use our tongue. I think Peter always remembered this lesson.
WHAT WILL YOU DO:
Would not we be wise to remember it too?
WHAT TO DO ON SUNDAY:
On Sundays, we encourage you to attend your local church and listen intently to what God has prepared in the heart of your Pastor. Write down all the scriptures he uses in that message, then, when you get home re-read those passages for today’s reading. God has given to your Pastor exactly what He desires for you on that day.
