Does The Bible Really Say That?

October 26, 2020

DAILY PROVERBS:

Proverbs 26:6-10 He that sendeth a message by the hand of a fool cutteth off the feet, and drinketh damage. The legs of the lame are not equal: so is a parable in the mouth of fools. As he that bindeth a stone in a sling, so is he that giveth honour to a fool. As a thorn goeth up into the hand of a drunkard, so is a parable in the mouth of fools. The great God that formed all things both rewardeth the fool, and rewardeth transgressors.

OUTLOOK ON THE IN BOOK:

Have you ever heard someone try to use the Bible for his or her own selfish purpose? Like those who try to defend their daily consumption of alcohol by saying, Jesus drank, or at least made alcohol for others. Truthfully, Jesus did not drink alcohol. Not one verse ever indicates that Jesus ever drank alcohol. In addition, He would never do something that would cause a person to sin. The wine spoke of at the wedding feast was nothing more than modern-day grape juice, the fruit of the vine.

Lately I have heard that it is ok for a person to be a homosexual because, since God creates all things, God must have created them that way. Again, someone is trying to twist the Word of God. God did create all things. However, He did not create them to be gay, just as He never created anyone to go to hell. He created them to love Him. Homosexuality is a sin. God hates all sin. So therefore, He did not create them to do something or be someone who He would hate. They are choosing to be that way. God never hates people, just our sin.

Our verses today explain why people do such things with God’s Word. For example, why would it be absurd to bind a stone in a sling? Because a stone is supposed to fly out of the sling, not be bound in it. If it is bound in the sling, it becomes useless. Often a parable, or a portion of the Bible is taken out of context for selfish desires. Doing so teaches a half-truth, or a principle not intended.

One great problem we see is that those who misuse the Bible, often believe their misunderstandings to be absolutely true. Ultimately, it causes them, and many to suffer the results.

THE WORD WALKING IN ME:

The Bible has a true meaning and is consistent in its message throughout. It does not say one thing one place and another thing another. God and His Word are the same forever. You can count on it.

I’ll Be Saved When I Want To!

October 23, 2020

DAILY PROVERBS:

Proverbs 26:1-5 As snow in summer, and as rain in harvest, so honour is not seemly for a fool. As the bird by wandering, as the swallow by flying, so the curse causeless shall not come. A whip for the horse, a bridle for the ass, and a rod for the fool’s back. Answer not a fool according to his folly, lest thou also be like unto him. Answer a fool according to his folly, lest he be wise in his own conceit.

OUTLOOK ON THE IN BOOK:

“I’ll do what I want, when I want, and how I want.” That seems to be the attitude of most of society today. It’s a feeling that we are somehow free to do as we please.

There are some people who believe that if they go into the tribulation period with a clear understanding about God’s saving grace through His Son, and yet refusing to accept Christ as Saviour, that they will just get saved later. How foolish to think that somehow a person can mock an all Holy God and His invitation of salvation today and get away with it. There is always a price for disobedience. Our verses today say, just as there is, “A whip for the horse, a bridle for the ass,” there is also, “a rod for the fool’s back.” There is always a price to pay for un-repented sin.

Salvation is free and available today, but tomorrow may be too late. Some believe they will be saved whenever they want, but this is simply not true. Someone can only be saved when God is calling and doing a work in his or her heart. Does this do away with man’s freewill? NO. Everyone has the freedom to accept or reject Christ, but not the freedom to belittle God’s grace by making a mockery of His desire to save them. People cannot thumb their nose at God’s invitation forever.

Is God still calling the world to be saved? Yes, He is telling them there is another way, and a better way to live. If they will listen and put their trust in God’s Son, Jesus Christ, He will give them His Spirit. This Holy Spirit will then help them understand God’s Word. Otherwise, the truth of Scripture is, as our verse says, “as snow in the summer,” it may not make sense. They may ask, “How can the Holy Spirit make sense of God’s Word to me?” The answer, “He wrote it.” 2 Peter 1:21 says: “For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost.”

THE WORD WALKING IN ME:

Good News, if you sense God calling you right now, it is not too late to be saved. Ask Jesus into your heart today, Right Now! If you are saved, share the good news while there’s time.

Advice From A Talebearer

October 22, 2020

DAILY PROVERBS:

Proverbs 25:25-28 As cold waters to a thirsty soul, so is good news from a far country. A righteous man falling down before the wicked is as a troubled fountain, and a corrupt spring. It is not good to eat much honey: so for men to search their own glory is not glory. He that hath no rule over his own spirit is like a city that is broken down, and without walls.

OUTLOOK ON THE IN BOOK:

People do not like people whom they cannot trust. As my dad use to say, “Be a man of your word, if you make a promise, keep it.” You just cannot trust a person who is not faithful to his or her own word.

I am sure you have found this to be true even in your own life. When things are going great and there are no problems around, everyone seems about the same. You can listen to advice from everyone and weigh out what you will or will not use. However, let storm clouds rise and trouble come your way. Whom do you look to during these times? From whom do you want to get your advice? Is it the person who is always seeking praise? How about the folks who are always telling those whopper tales? Will you trust the one that says they will be there and then never shows up and does not seem to care? How about the person who lies continually, is that who you turn to? NO. Why not? Because you have learned by experience, you can never trust these people with anything.

That is why our verses today say a righteous man would not fall down before the wicked for advice. Their words of wisdom are likely to be self-serving or an outright lie. When the pressures of life’s trials are hovering over you, you do not have the luxury of sorting out the good from the bad. You know you need sound wisdom from a trusted saint.

Remember, people look at Christians through the lens of believability. If we are a child of God, they look at us as a representative of our God. The bible calls us Ambassadors for Him. We symbolize a God who cannot lie and who is always faithful. What we do or say represents in the worlds mind, who Christ is. We must be found faithful for Him

THE WORD WALKING IN ME:

Make your words, your attitude, and your life count for Jesus. Be faithful to Him and to your word. The testimony you help or harm may not only be your own, but also that of Christ’s.

We’ll Fix Their Wagon

October 21, 2020

DAILY PROVERBS:

Proverbs 25:21-24 If thine enemy be hungry, give him bread to eat; and if he be thirsty, give him water to drink: For thou shalt heap coals of fire upon his head, and the LORD shall reward thee. The north wind driveth away rain: so doth an angry countenance a backbiting tongue. It is better to dwell in the corner of the housetop, than with a brawling woman and in a wide house.

OUTLOOK ON THE IN BOOK:

Ok, today is the day we get honest. Think for just a second, who is the one person who really rubs you the wrong way? Do not say it aloud… you do not want everyone to know! You know who it is. It is the person that when you see them coming you hide because you do not want to speak to them. The one individual who seems to always be really irritating. Maybe they have made you mad or possibly they have hurt you in some way. Perhaps they have caused you so many problems it is not even funny. So, do you have that person in mind? Well today is the day we fix their wagon. After all this time we are going to finally make things right. Jesus has shown us exactly what to do to people who treat us like this. Are you ready for the remedy? Here it is. Treat them as Jesus treated you.

Remember back when you would do or say things that must have hurt Jesus? When you did that, what did He do? He laid down His life to save you. Can you recall all those times you neglected Him, called one of His children names or made fun of those Christians? Well He sure got even with you. How? He loved you unconditionally. That will teach you to be ugly to Him.

Yes, Jesus tells us that we should treat our enemies with respect and love. That seems like a lot to ask. You may be wondering, “What do you get out of it?” God said He would reward you. Quite possibly, as you show the love of Jesus to someone else, God might give you a new Saved Friend.

THE WORD WALKING IN ME:

Jesus loves the little children, ALL the children of the world, red, and yellow, black, and white, they are precious in His sight. Jesus loves the little children of the world. Could Jesus show that love through you today, or is there something in the way?
