What Do People See In You?

NOVEMBER 16, 2021

KEY FROM GOD’S WORD:

Psalm 115:17 The dead praise not the LORD, neither any that go down into silence.

THOUGHT ON GOD’S WORD:

As a young boy growing up, my father was not one much to say, “Praise the Lord” aloud. He was not a hanky waving, amen yelling, hooting, and hollering type of a man. Instead, he lived a quiet peaceful life and was a Godly man in front of his wife, children, neighbors, co-workers, and friends. He was human and would slip from time to time. However, truthfully, I can remember very few of those times. The slip-ups were not what characterized his life. People who knew him while he was still alive would often say things like, “Your dad is a fair man,” or, “He is a good man,” and he was. Yet, toward the end of his life, as cancer began to take away the precious moments which he thought he was going to have in his older age, I began to see a change in him. He started saying, “Praise the Lord” more aloud as the days began to dwindle away. He became a lot more vocal about how God should receive honor for what He was doing for him in those last days. He was not trying to score any brownie points with God by doing so. He knew he did not need brownie points as his salvation was already secured in Christ. He was not trying to make a name for himself among those around him. He already had a good name from living a good life. So why did my dad become more vocal?

Maybe today’s verse helps us to understand. I think he realized he only had a few more days, weeks, or months at best to praise God here on earth. The dead can leave a great testimony with the life they have lived. Nevertheless, someone needs to share that testimony. My dad was, is, and always will be one of my greatest heroes. Still, to the rest of the world he was just another factory-working person who went to church and lived a good life. Nevertheless, at the last, he shared what he wanted people to remember most. “Praise the Lord for all He has given to me.”

CARRYING THAT THOUGHT THROUGH THE DAY:

Has a Godly person you knew passed on? Be their voice of assurance to others. The dead can only speak through the voices of the living. They praise God in heaven every day now. Live your life today, so it will be a testimony tomorrow.

Act Or Fact?

NOVEMBER 15, 2021

KEY FROM GOD’S WORD:

Proverbs 15:8 The sacrifice of the wicked is an abomination to the LORD: but the prayer of the upright is his delight.

THOUGHT ON GOD’S WORD:

Religion is often filled with pomp and ceremony. Things must be just so, or we are not happy. Our religious acts of worship toward God are often glorious reflections of our love, adoration, respect, and worship of who He is in our life. I will in no way say that we should make little of our many means of worship. It teaches children and young Christians reverence to an Almighty Creator and the Lord of our life. Our means of worship helps us to refocus our lives and put God first again. These traditions of faith help us to have continuity with the churches of old in our forms of adoration toward the Father in Heaven. The only times these rituals become a problem are when the act of Religious Ceremony become the item of worship. For example, if taking communion is your worship to God, but then you never think of Him or live for Him in between these acts of worship, then the ceremony has become a problem. Why? Because, it has become your worship to God, and this is not worship. It is an act of obedience and love for Him. It is part of our way of expressing worship to the Lord. However, it is not worship.

Worship includes your entire life. If you are living like the world and then believe somehow the act of coming to the communion table makes your worldly practices ok, there is a problem. As today’s verse says, “The sacrifice of the wicked is an abomination to the Lord.” No matter what this sacrifice is. Does your giving tithes and offering bring joy into your life because you love God and want Him to be able to reach others with your gift of love? Or do you feel like this is one more religious notch in my belt with God. God does not care about your sacrifice until you make the one most important sacrifice. Give yourself to Him. If you will lay yourself on the altar of sacrifice to the Lord, then everything you do, say, and think are filtered through who God is in your life. Then your prayers become His delight.

CARRYING THAT THOUGHT THROUGH THE DAY:

Everyone wants to delight God. I mean who would not want to make God happy. Well, this verse tells you how you can do that. Live upright for Him. It is not about righteous ACTS it’s about Holiness.

Get The Real Heal Deal

NOVEMBER 13 & 14, 2021

KEY FROM GOD’S WORD:

Ezekiel 13:3  Thus saith the Lord GOD; Woe unto the foolish prophets, that follow their own spirit, and have seen nothing!

THOUGHT ON GOD’S WORD:

You can hardly turn on the TV anymore without seeing some so-called TV Evangelist giving other real preachers a bad name. Why would I make such a claim? Well, it is because they often are claiming they have received extra revelations that are not in scripture. It is by claiming to have a word from God on someone’s healing. I never saw people in the Bible with telepathic revelations on others healing miles away. Jesus was the only one who knew the beginning from the end and could do so.

I turned TV on the other day and there was a man begging for money, (like this surprises you, right…) with a table full of pieces of paper. There were hundreds of slips of paper where people had called in with a deep need, pledging “x” amount of dollars expecting a miracle from their so-called seed pledge. This TV charlatan said, “In a moment I will be laying my hands on this pile of prayer requests, and I hear in my spirit, (small “s” on purpose,) when I pray that millions of people are going to be healed all over the world.” Right behind the man making this claim was a large plate-glass window. Behind the window were operators on phone, taking prayer pledges. In the front row of these operators was a young woman answering phones with a huge white neck brace. If this man can heal people all over the world, why did he not heal the woman right behind him working for him? The reason is simple, he cannot heal people. Nor can I, or anyone else. God can, and still does heal and He never charged a person one dime to do so. Their faith was not tied to their pocketbooks. “Woe unto the foolish prophets…” When a man stands to preach the Word, make sure he is preaching God’s Word, not his own.

CARRYING THAT THOUGHT THROUGH THE DAY:

People want to believe in something so badly they will often believe a lie. Do not fall for the fakes, fall in front of the Father. If you need healing don’t go to a coliseum, go to Christ. He still does heal people. In His time, in His way and by His will He still works wonders in the lives of His own. Put your faith in Him. Get the Real Heal Deal.

WHAT TO DO ON SUNDAY:

There will not be a Daily Devotion sent out on Sundays. Instead, we encourage you to attend your church and listen intently to what God has prepared in the heart of your Pastor. Write down all the scriptures he uses in that message, then when you get home re-read those passages for today’s reading. God has given to your Pastor exactly what He desires for you on that day.

NOVEMBER 12, 2021 – Guaranteed

Guaranteed

NOVEMBER 12, 2021

KEY FROM GOD’S WORD:

Psalm 111:5 He hath given meat unto them that fear him: he will ever be mindful of his covenant.

THOUGHT ON GOD’S WORD:

When I was younger, when I would see the word “GUARANTEED” on things I thought, “Well this will be good forever, it is guaranteed.” Why in the world would they guarantee something if it would break? That just did not make sense to me.

However, as I grew older, I learned a few things about Guarantees. One of those things was the Guarantee was only as good as the company who made the claim. As a young boy, I believed that every big company which had enough money to make something would just be there forever in case anything went wrong with their product. Oh, the innocence of childhood. As I have grown older, and I guess a little wiser, now I know that not all companies are reputable and not every person is trustworthy. Sadly, this colors the decisions that all adults must make. So how do I make big decisions now? If the guarantee matters, then I look at the manufacturer to see how long they have been in business. I try to find out if the products they have made have had problems. Did they take care of the problems if they did? I just want to know a little about who is making this GUARANTEE.

God’s Guarantees meet all those criteria. One thing we can rely on is that God has been around for a long time, (a very long time). God has always taken care of the products He has made, (Us). He has a great retirement program that has never been beaten, (Heaven). He is as stable as anything anyone can think of, (and better). In our verse today, it says, “He hath given meat unto them that fear Him.” This simply means He has provided for those who have given themselves to Him to love and serve Him. “He will ever be mindful of his covenant,” says He will never break a promise. This means His Guarantees are absolutely solid. You can trust them forever.

CARRYING THAT THOUGHT THROUGH THE DAY:

In a world that seems mixed up on values and promises, it is good to know at least one thing is still always true. The Word of God has never been proven wrong. Never! Why, because it is never wrong. You can rely on God and His word. This my friends is GUARANTEED.

NOVEMBER 11, 2021 – God Keeps His Promises

God Keeps His Promises

NOVEMBER 11, 2021

KEY FROM GOD’S WORD:

Ezekiel 9:9-10 Then said he unto me, The iniquity of the house of Israel and Judah is exceeding great, and the land is full of blood, and the city full of perverseness: for they say, The LORD hath forsaken the earth, and the LORD seeth not. And as for me also, mine eye shall not spare, neither will I have pity, but I will recompense their way upon their head.

THOUGHT ON GOD’S WORD:

People in general never change. We may change in our outward appearance a bit. Our lifestyles might change some. However, over all people never really change. Adam and Eve started it all when they thought, “God won’t care if we eat just one bite… It is such a little sin. Surely He won’t be too mad.” Do you remember the attitude of the people of Noah’s time? They may have said, “A flood, rain, what is rain? God is not that mad at us Noah. Just look around you and see. He has not punished us yet, has He? Just leave us alone.” Then there were the Children of Israel spoken of in today’s verses saying in essence “God is not coming back. He has forsaken us. We have everything we need without Him. He is not even watching. Ezekiel, get a life.”

Still today, after all the evidence of the accuracy of God’s promises, still people say, “I have never seen Jesus in the sky so why should I believe that it will happen today?” They may not say it with their mouth, but with their lives people say, “Really? My grandparents believed He was coming, my parents believed it too and they have died, and He still did not come back. Preacher quit bothering us with this legalistic garbage of not sinning. God does not care about our little sins. He only cares about the big ones that I have not committed. Will you please leave us alone?”

However just as with all those in the past who did not believe and mocked His coming and His judgment, there is still a price to pay for sin. His promises are sure. He shall return in the twinkling of an eye. Where will you be found on that day?

CARRYING THAT THOUGHT THROUGH THE DAY:

God’s Word says He will not be mocked. You cannot live a sinful life that makes a mockery of Christ’s death for that sin and still expect His blessings. If you do not care about His blessings, then you probably do not know Him. For me to live is CHRIST.
