Proverbs 12:4 A virtuous woman is a crown to her husband: but she that maketh ashamed is as rottenness in his bones.
THOUGHT ON GOD’S WORD:
God never makes mistakes. Never! Therefore, if you are married believers who were joined together by God, then whomever you are married to is the person with whom God intends for you to make a happy home. That is possible only if you both are willing to work at it. It is also important for those not married yet to take the time to allow God to lead you to the right mate.
Today’s verse says, “A virtuous woman is a crown to her husband.”That is the same as saying that the right wife brings a husband great joy. It is like having everything you need and then God gives you a bonus of joy and contentment to go along with it. This verse also says, “she that maketh ashamed is as rottenness in his bones.”This is the opposite of the first comment. It is like having everything and then finding out you’re dying. None of what you have seems of any value because there is no joy in mere things. This same principle would hold true for both men and women.
The word virtuous speaks of strength. It is being strong in character, morals, and beliefs. A wife or husband of virtue would be a person who did their best to make home a haven for their spouse and children. It would be a person who held the other in high regards and wanted nothing less than the absolute best for them. Our best is always found in our relationship and service to God. Since God does not make mistakes, if you are unmarried, wait on God to direct you to the right companion. If you are married, God expects you to make your home a happy one.
CARRYING THAT THOUGHT THROUGH THE DAY:
You cannot add virtue to another person’s life. You can only work on you. What are your morals, beliefs, and character? Do you trust God today to supply your every need? Become a person of virtue and watch the world around you take on a completely new meaning. You can’t add virtue to another’s life, but when they see it in you, they are sure to want it. As a King desires a valuable crown, so a mate desires a virtuous spouse.
